Portrait session FAQs:
Q: How long does a typical photo session last?
A: I offer different types of packages to perfectly cater to what you are looking for. Typically a shoot will be anywhere from 25-60 minutes. There is a tab at the top menu that describes each one. Which ever you choose, once we go over the allotted time, any additional shots will incur an extra fee. I’ll keep track of the time and let you know if we’re running down the clock so there are no surprises at the end of the day!
Q: Can I share these photos?
A: Absolutely! I want nothing more than to create beautiful images for you to share with your family and friends. I would especially love if, when you share on social media, you credit me so that others know how to reach me for their own family portrait sessions! I will be using some of the images from my shoots for self promotion, so you may see them pop up on my social media channels, but for more intimate shoots (such as maternity), I will always reach out to make sure you’re comfortable first.
Q: What types of sessions are you available for?
A: I specialize in maternity, newborn, and family photography. If you’re looking for someone to photograph your party, wedding, or other event, I’m happy to make a referral!
Q: Are all your sessions 1 hour?
A: Not all. During the busy months (Sept-Dec) I do 1 hour family sessions. During the late spring and summer I do offer mini sessions at a discounted rate or pop-up portrait sessions on occasion. I post about these on social media when the time comes.
Q: What is best to wear for a family photo session?
A: As a general rule, I always tell clients to stay away from a busy print or a print that is very small - even fine plaid or small checkered print can become distracting. Aim for neutrals and some light layers or textures - such as knits or velvet. These show up beautifully on camera! Oh, and no neon please! ;)
Q: How do I pay you?
A: I accept Venmo & Zelle and Paypal if you book through my site.
Q: Are you up to date on vaccines?
A: Yes! safety always comes first - I am vaccinated in flu, Covid, whooping cough, and TDap.
Q: Help! I don’t know where to have my session!
A: Don’t panic! I have a list of local spots that provide excellent backdrops to your family portrait or engagement photo session. For maternity or newborn sessions, I suggest a quieter, more intimate location, such as your home! I may ask for photos of the space beforehand so I can come prepared with suggestions for finding the best light possible, and making sure the day runs smoothly.
For family shoots I tend to think outdoors is best, especially for holiday shoots. Nature is the best backdrop and natural sunlight at the right time is my favorite light source.
Q: How many photos do I get? How soon do I get them?
A: Typically clients get 30-50 edited hi res images depending on session type. Shorter sessions will have less images. They are delivered via a private link for you to view, download and share from.
It may depend on the season, but images are typically turned around within 5-10 days. I host these images guaranteed for 6 months, and then I need to offer up the space for other clients so I always suggest downloading all your favorite images to a safe place!
Q: Are you available to travel?
A: Absolutely! I’m happy to meet you where you are, but for any location outside of the Los Angeles Metro Area I will charge a small fee for mileage.
